For the Love of Flamenco

It is pleasure to let you know about a very special event to be held on December 5th. One of the board members of the Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance Company is opening her home for an intimate evening of food, fun and flamenco. The event is called For the Love of Flamenco and is a very important beginning for raising funds for badly needed renovations and upgrades to the company studio and home of the Academy of Spanish Dance. When I started writing this letter we were excited about planning the improvements to the studio. Now we need to begin some of the upgrades immediately as we have had water damage in our costume and archives storage room discovered only a few days ago. This will add to our expected costs for improvements.
Still the most important and costly, of the upgrades for the long term operation of the studio is replacing the 50’ x 20’ floor in the large studio. 18 years of dance classes six days a week, many workshops with guest artists from Spain, and hours and hours of rehearsals for the company’s annual Toronto productions and other engagements as well as rentals to other dancers over the years have taken their toll. Replacing this specialized sprung floor with a surface that can withstand the impact of percussive footwork over time is an expensive proposition. I hope you will join us to support this necessary venture.
For the Love of Flamenco on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 7:30 will be held at 2112 Dunvegan Avenue in Oakville. The admission for this special evening is $75/person which includes a delicious buffet meal, wine and a performance of course. It will be a pleasure for me, the exceptional guitarist Nicolás Hernández and powerful singer Fernando Gallego to share our love of flamenco with you in this intimate setting.

For those of you unable to attend it is possible for you to contribute to the longevity of our company home on- line through Canada Helps or you can simply call the studio to make a donation in any amount by Visa. Charitable tax receipts can be issued as the company is a registered charity.
